The Reader's online archives, which used to charge for a download, go back to 1987, the year I started writing for the paper. My fellow blogger Whet Moser has been posting some highlights.

Archived articles of the Reader (Hot Type columns, at any rate) have been free for at least the last several years. But there's a catch.
I made sure to save the URLs for a couple of my fave Hot Type columns before they disappeared off the 6-week archive. I've never had a problem accessing the columns with those URLs.
But now I don't have to feel guilty about it. :-)
As for me I'm going to start digging immediately. Now if only "Quail Egg Incubators Monthly" would open up their archives. Oh, to dream.
