| Saturday afternoon a large group of friends and admirers gathered at the Green Mill to remember Evan Garfinkel, a true renaissance man who died in November in Las Vegas, too damn young. The diverse crowd--people from all over the country (and France)--reflected his broad interests in the blues, German philosophy, and food. In addition to being an accomplished drummer, an ebullient bon vivant, and a discriminating, sometimes unforgiving eater, he was a brilliant writer, and his lengthy, hilarious, and trenchant contributions to LTHForum will bust guts for a long time to come. I was lucky enough to meet the hungryrabbi, as he was known, a few times, and I'm much the richer for it. R.I.P., Evan.
