| Remember Tony Peraica?
He’s the Republican nominee for state’s attorney who waited about four seconds after first-time candidate Anita Alvarez won the Democratic primary before he began attacking her, charging that she's a product of the machine and a big reason the county's criminal justice system has been “turning a blind eye to corruption and putting politics over public safety.”
He’s the county commissioner who last summer tried to get his colleagues to pass a vote of no confidence in the “failed” administration of county board president Todd Stroger. When he came up short, he ripped the commissioners who opposed him. “By voicing confidence in Stroger, they are saying loud and clear they support the rampant corruption in County government, the hiring of Stroger's political cronies, the utilization of the County budget as a political payback tool, the continued third-world conditions at Stroger Hospital, and Stroger's support for a property tax increase,” said the press release he issued.
And of course he’s the guy who lost to Stroger after a bitter, tightly contested campaign in the fall of 2006, then led supporters on a bizarre election night march on the county elections office.
Peraica isn't known for the delicacy of his words or politics.
Yet as commissioners traded insults at the Cook County Board meeting Wednesday, he was the one trying to play statesman, urging everyone to put county residents ahead of their personal politics and to cease the harsh rhetoric. “I think we need to put away the egos and the testosterone that’s flowing through everybody’s veins here and get down to work,” he told his colleagues.
The board has until the end of the month to hash out a budget. The volleys hurled Wednesday suggest it’s going to be a challenging week.
At the beginning of the meeting, Stroger reiterated his argument that the county has to raise more revenues—he’s proposed a sales tax hike—so it can continue to provide desperately needed health services to the indigent. “But the only thing some members of this board are willing to pay for is lip service,” he said, singling out north-side commissioners Forrest Claypool, Mike Quigley, and Larry Suffredin.
Claypool countered that Stroger’s last budget had eviscerated the county’s system of neighborhood clinics even as he hired cronies for administrative jobs. “You view this system as a patronage dumping ground.”
“I sure do wish I could wave a magic wand and everything would be great in one day, but I can’t,” Stroger said. “It takes hard work.”
Stroger’s allies seemed to understand how lame that sounded, so they began jumping to his defense. “Are there people who’ve been appointed by you?” commissioner John Daley, the mayor’s brother, asked Stroger rhetorically. “Yes, there are. It’s the prerogative of the executive. The mayor does the same thing in the city of Chicago. Governor Blagojevich does it. There is a double standard here. People are after you. People want your job because they lost it last time.”
“There’s not that many political hacks in Cook County,” argued south-side commissioner Deborah Sims.
William Beavers weighed in too. “We’ve got someone in this room who used to be the chief of staff for the mayor—that is a political appointment. That is a patronage job,” he said. “Or they come out of a ward office—they were on staff for an alderman. Those were patronage jobs. You know who these people are? They’ve been born again. They’re born-again sinners.”
That’s when Peraica asked for the chance to speak and surprised most of the room by calling for an end to the rancor. “We need to stop the partisanship—it’s not going to get us anywhere,” he said.
But Peraica is, after all, Peraica, and even his appeal for collegiality had to include a few jabs at those who weren’t interested in his brand of it. “This is about people who want clean, honest government and those who believe in taxing and spending exponentially,” he said.
To his credit, Stroger got in the spirit of things and promised he was sort of willing to work with everyone. “I believe my comments have been mild compared with some of the things that have been said,” he told the board. “I haven’t even thrown stones yet.”

Why are there 'political appointments'?
What exactly are 'political appointments'?
Are we talking about specific publicly paid jobs that those we elect to public office have the unregulated authority to hire whomever they please, with no regard as to said individual's qualifications or abilities relevant to performing duties of real benefit to the taxpayers?
As in an elected official, using the taxpayer's dollars to hire certifiable mental defectives to perform work of no value to said taxpayers?
As in elected officials creating job positions devoid of any relevance to actually serving the public who pay their wages?
And staffing said positions with useless parasitic leeches passing themselves off as human beings?
Is that what we're talking about here?
Is that the essential cause of this so-called 'shortfall' in county revenue?
Is that what the taxpayers are being told is the reason for this proposed sales tax increase, to facilitate the padding of county payrolls with a multitude of malingerers, do-nothings, flunkies and political patronage 'workers', of whatever race, creed, ethnicity or political party affiliation?
Is this what we, the taxpayers, elected these pickpockets to do?
Is this what you, the reading, taxpaying voter, elected these 'sterling citizens' to do?
Is it?
Dennis Gannon is a high paid political whore who sells out the real blue collar man.
The SEIU Leadership lives in Highland Park.
They are laying people off.
Privatizing jobs.
Bill Daley was the NAFTA point man.
Mayor Daley is the worst enemy of unions.
Dennis Gannon is a paid off joke.
The SEIU are commies who have huge multi million dollar mansion in non union Highland Park and Lake Forest with plenty of shopping options.
has the multi million dollar mansion in non union Highland Park and has his lawn landscaped by illegal's.
You mean he's a Lineman for the County?
Watched another feeble-minded attempt by channel 11 to pretend it's talking head 'experts' on that 'week in review' show are anything other than political panderers.
Actually heard one of the idiot guests say that it's a given that politicians, once elected, 'get' to pad their payrolls with their pals and cronies, like it's the honest and acceptable thing to do.
And the 'moderator' didn't even blink, let alone object to this attitude as an indication of exactly how corrupt and dishonest our elected officials truly are.
What a whore.
But, what can we expect, from the whore of broadcast television, the ever self-promoting, self-congratulating and smarmy WTTW?
Elect Peraica as Cook County State's Attorney.
Give honest government the beginning of a chance.
Don't worry that he'll eviscerate the Democratic Corruption Machine, pray that he will.
Because 'the feds' ain't getting the job done, not by a long shot.
You really gotta put down that plum juice.
It's not that Tony Peraica is 'perfect', we don't need him to be 'perfect'.
It's that Alvarez will do nothing to investigate, indict and prosecute criminal corruption in our city and county governments.
'Nothing', concerning said corrupt activities, being what she, and her co-workers, including her boss Devine, have been doing for 20+ years now.
So, given the choice between more nothing being done, via Alvarez being elected, and something certainly being done, via Peraica gaining the authorities of the County State's Attorney's office, I'll take something over nothing every time.
The fact that Tony Peraica is verifiably not Alvarez, verifiably not Devine, or Milan, or anyone incestuously connected to the Crook County Democratic Corruption Machine, is more than enough for me to cast my vote for Peraica and to encourage every honest resident of this city and county to do the same.
That is, if you, the city or county resident actually want to have the chance to see substantially honest city and county governments, for the first time in several generations.
Yes, it sounds like fantasy, to most all of the residents of this city and county.
That's because of the pathetic, generational 'doing nothing' that our County State's Attorney's office has been for decades.
Why do you think little Richie made the move from the State Legislature to the comparative obscurity of the office of a County State's Attorney?
It wasn't only because he used it as a stepping stone to the mayor's office, albeit one that took a bit longer than he, and his cronies, had planned it would take, what with Jane Byrne throwing a monkey wrench in their plans, thus 'allowing' Harold Washington to win City Hall, twice.
It was primarily to have a major 'playa' in this office, there to protect the various and numerous activities of 'all the usual suspects'.
It's worked, so far.
Peraica is the best, most recently viable chance we have, of intterupting the flow of our hard-earned dollars down the drain of the gigantic black hole that is our city and county governments.
This is the moment, boys and girls, to get registered to vote and to vote in Peraica.
Anything less and we can say hello, once again, to 'business as usual'.
If you're one of those bloodsuckers feeding at the taxpayer financed trough, you'll, no doubt, be busting the balls you don't have, putting in boo coo hours of your paid, and unpaid, time, working to play every race card, ethnic bigotry, dirty trick and criminal vote fraud you've got to play, all to protect your incestuous and illegitimate system of picking the taxpayers' pockets.
Honest citizens would expect no more of your breed.
This contest, for the office of Cook County State's Attorney, is the most important contest the residents of this city and county will be voting on.
More important than any other this November.
The Democratic Corruption Machine of Crook County hopes to ride the tail of the Presidential Contest, and will be 'strongly encouraging' everyone to vote a straight democratic ticket.
Allow yourselves to be fooled by their persuasions and you'll be encouraging the continued rape and pillaging of your pocketbooks.
More Daley thievery, more Stroger hypocrisy, more Burke and Madigan chicanery, more of the same arrogant, aristocratic dictatorship government we've all come to know and despise.
Whatever your race, ethnicity, creed or culture, the one thing we all have in common is the unnecessarily bloated tax burdens being imposed upon us.
All the bullshit being fed to us as truth to the contrary.
When our 'illustrious leaders' cut to the bone their own bloated salaries, reduce their own obscene pensions and trim their own, selectively controlled patronage hirings, then they can honestly talk about reducing those services vital to the health and well-being of the citizens, who pay for everything.
Until such time, they will remain the liars, cheaters and thieves they've proven themselves to be.
So THEREFORE......Consider the source.
Let these PRO-TONY PERAICA spinsters cajole the HELL out of you.
1)Don't fumble for your keys in Al's BBq parking.
2)And Juan Mortime just so's there's no confusion--lay of the plum juice and the kielbasa and be kind to the women in your family
Never been North of Grand & Ogden or South of 31st street. To many ski's, with sweaty hands, to many goofs and to many uitfrays. I don't know but from them addresses sounds like you wear them fruit-a-da-looms in reverse.
"...King of the freaking universe."
This describes the attitudes of the Daley's, Stroger's, Burke's, Madigan's, et al, to a 'T'.
So, who's bullshitting who?
"...And COULD care less if they would replace God as the ultimate mentor."
So, according to you, Daley, and his ilk, are God and those seeking to end the reign of these miscreant, thieving aristocrats supposedly want to 'replace' them with a different 'ultimate mentor'?
Sorry, Charlie, we don't want, or need, 'mentors', ultimate or otherwise.
What we need are that rare of all creatures, honest public servants.
What we want is to rid our city and county governments of the thieving, lying, deceiving cocksuckers, male and female, who are robbing us into the poorhouse.
That would be you, if you hadn't noticed, whatever your gender.
"Being the blasphemous & sacreligious bastards they are...." DON'T "Let these" proponents of the status quo "spinsters cajole the HELL out of you" and your hard earned incomes.
Political Patronage, whether in employments or contracts, is THEFT of the taxpayers' dollars.
When the status quo minions try to feed you their bullshit, I suggest you, the taxpayer, "...Consider the source."
Since we only have two choices, the Democrat Alvarez or the Republican Peraica, in this contest for the Cook County State's Attorney's office, the question is, do you, the voting, taxpaying citizen, want to have Alvarez as the next County Prosecutor, continuing to do nothing about the criminal activities that are running rampant within our city and county governments OR do you want to give Peraica a shot at 'corruptus interruptus', ie., interrupting the corruption?
And Peraica is just the guy to enthusiastically and aggressively do the job, the job that the Democrat Alvarez won't even think about doing.
After all, Alvarez isn't going to bite the hands that feed her, albeit those hands truly being the taxpayers', not the bastards picking our pockets and funneling our hard earned incomes into the hands of their cronies, Alvarez being one of many.
Try to remain calm. Take slow deep breaths. Do not pull at your IVs. Those voices are the doctors and nurses who want to make you better. It will be ok, they will make you better. You're going to make it, but you have to stay calm. No those are not bad policemen, they're good police men. They brought you here to help you, they won't hurt you. Everything will be fine, no you are not a bad person, your just not right, yet. Is there any one we should contact...do you want us to calm someone? The medicine should be working now...just be calm, be calm, try to be calm....
Actually, this guy's being allowed to post IS his/her therapy, courtesy of the Stroger/Daley/Burke/Madigan/et al health care management team.
Unless this guy IS either the Toddler, Da Mare, the 'Busy Bee' Burke, the 'Mighty' Madigan or ?????
I kinda think it might be Bernie the 'Hog with the Balls' Stone.
